Welcome to Glishio – Vocabulary Foundations.

This course is the first part of a three-part vocabulary programme based on the book All About Us! by John Langridge. It is designed for B1 (Intermediate) to B2 (Upper-Intermediate) learners of English, as well as native speakers who want to strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, and language awareness.

Each quiz in this course is built around a short text on a single topic, followed by 15 clues. Every answer already appears somewhere in the text. Your task is to read carefully, understand the meaning, and locate the correct word or phrase for each clue.

How the quizzes work

For each quiz:

1. Read the text and focus on understanding the overall meaning.

2. Read the 15 clues carefully.

3. Go back to the text and find the exact word or phrase that matches each clue.

4. Answer all 15 questions before submitting.

There is no guessing required. Every answer is in the text.

What this course focuses on

Quizzes 1–50 cover a wide range of core topics, including:

• Discoveries and inventions

• English history and literature

• Politics, society, and government

• Science, health, and human life

The goal is not speed, but accuracy, recognition, and retention of vocabulary in real context.

How to get the most from the course

• Take your time with each text.

• Re-read sentences where the answers appear.

• Say new words out loud to reinforce pronunciation.

• Keep a notebook of unfamiliar words and phrases.

This course works best when completed steadily, not rushed.
